Keep Your Hands on the Wheel
Today as I was driving back from school I used the controls on my steering wheel to adjust the volume of NPR. As I used the controls I was sent back to the time when the car was being purchased. The salesman informed my dad that with these controls on the steering wheel I would never have to take my hands off the wheel. Then I imagined what I would do without these controls -- both hands off the wheel, eyes off the road, every finger touching any button it can get to, car wreck after car wreck. Thank heavens for those controls.

every time my mom is in my car and I turn up the volume via my steering wheel controls she reacts like this: "what - wha-- oh! hahahahaha!"
I wish I had this feature in my car. Not to save myself from multiple car wrecks, but because I am extremely lazy and would like to not move as much as possible.
My hands don't need to be anywhere near the wheel for a safe journey. I'm constantly using both hands while fixing my hair, fiddling with gadgets, and covering my eyes, and you don't see me getting in any wrecks, do you?
Sometimes I just have to track down a particular song on my iPod while driving, and I know I am taking a terrible risk.
